Tyler Perry Reportedly Spotted Trying To Give ‘Significant’ Amount Of Money To Unpaid Atlanta TSA Agents, Gesture Blocked By Government Rules

#TylerPerry’s efforts to help TSA agents during a difficult period have been blocked by regulations.

Witnesses reported seeing Tyler at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Thursday (Mar. 26), attempting to give money to TSA agents who have been working without pay amid the ongoing partial government shutdown. He was reportedly offering a “significant” sum, but the gesture was quickly halted. A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson explained that TSA officers are not permitted to accept cash or gift cards at screening areas.

However, Aaron Barker, president of the Georgia Local chapter of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) union, told the AP that TSA unions operate differently. “The union can accept donations and distribute them to members,” he explained. #TSA agents have now been working without pay for over a month, and more than 400 have reportedly resigned since the shutdown began.
