Donald Trump Reacts To ‘Very Close Friend’ Tiger Woods’ DUI Arrest: I Feel So Badly. He’s Got Some Difficulty’
Donald Trump is speaking out following Tiger Woods’ recent Florida crash and arrest, sharing concern for the golf icon after the frightening incident.
The crash occurred Friday afternoon around 2 p.m. on Jupiter Island when Woods’ Land Rover collided with a pressure cleaner truck and flipped onto its side. Authorities confirmed the athlete was able to crawl out through the passenger door. During a press conference, Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek revealed Woods was arrested and charged with DUI following the crash.
Trump, who was arriving in Florida for a speaking engagement at the time, reacted to the news while addressing reporters. The president, who described Woods as a close friend, said, “I feel so badly. He’s got some difficulty. There was an accident, and that’s all I know. Very close friend of mine. He’s an amazing person, amazing man. But some difficulty.”
According to officials, Woods appeared “lethargic on scene” and did “exemplify signs of impairment.” Although a breathalyzer test detected no alcohol, he later refused a urinalysis, resulting in misdemeanor charges of DUI with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.
Woods remains in custody under a mandatory eight-hour hold as the investigation continues.
