Gucci Mane Allegedly Kidnapped, Held At Gunpoint & Robbed By Fellow Rappers Pooh Shiesty & Big30 Over Recording Contract Dispute
Welp…we now know why #PoohShiesty has landed back behind bars just 5 months after being released from prison.
Rapper #GucciMane was allegedly kidnapped and robbed at gunpoint in a Dallas music studio on January 10, according to federal authorities. The Department of Justice says Pooh Shiesty, real name Lontrell Williams Jr., and fellow Memphis rapper Big30, real name Rodney Lamont Wright Jr., are among nine people accused in the armed incident, which began as what was supposed to be a meeting about a recording contract. For those unaware, Pooh Shiesty signed to Gucci‘s 1017 label in 2017.
Prosecutors allege that once everyone was inside the studio, one of the assailants “executed an armed takeover,” produced an AK-style pistol and “forced one of the victims to sign a release from the recording contract at gunpoint.” Other suspects allegedly drew firearms and robbed victims of Rolex watches, jewelry, cash and other valuables.
The DOJ complaint also claims one victim was choked nearly unconscious and that #Big30 “barricaded the door” to prevent anyone from escaping. Eight of the nine suspects were arrested on April 1, including Shiesty’s own father, who federal officials say helped plan and carry out the crime. In addition to federal action, authorities say some stolen items were even posted on social media by those allegedly involved.
Gucci Mane has yet to speak on the alleged incident.
