Jack Harlow Accused Of Denying Grammy-Nominated Songwriter Jozzy Proper Credits, Allegedly Wanted Her As A Ghostwriter
#JackHarlow seems to have an interesting request for songwriters he may work with.
The rapper-turned-R&B artist was accused by Grammy-nominated songwriter Jocelyn “Jozzy” Donald of asking that she not publicly share her contributions if they collaborated. In an open discussion making its rounds on the internet, Jozzy claimed she received a voice note from Jack following a music session they had for his second studio album, Come Home the Kids Miss You, where he admitted he loved working with her but didn’t want anyone to know. “[He] pretty much wanted me to be a ghost writer,” Jozzy said.
Jozzy, who has worked with several big-name artists and producers, such as #SZA, 21 Savage, Metro Boomin, and #Beyoncé, wasn’t having it. “That sh*t hurt me. …in my head, I’m like, ‘I’m a hit maker, n*gg*, what the f*ck?’” she said. Jozzy added, “I’m not a ghostwriter…if the song comes out, I’m letting n*gg*s know I wrote it.” According to #Jozzy, that stance meant they never worked together after that. However, she said she still respects Jack for being upfront about what he wanted.
Jack’s latest album, Monica, stirred controversy after he claimed he “got blacker” for his debut R&B project.
