[UPDATE] Claressa Shields Banned From MVP Events After Slap Incident With Fellow Boxer Alycia + Alycia Threatens To Sue
#ClaressaShields is no longer welcome at Most Valuable Promotions events following a heated altercation with fellow boxer #AlyciaBaumgardner.
The incident went down in a private VIP section during MVP’s MMA debut event, where the two fighters—who’ve had ongoing tension online—reportedly exchanged words before things turned physical. At some point during the altercation, Claressa made contact with Alycia, prompting swift action from the promotion.
MVP wasted no time addressing the situation, releasing a statement that read, “Effective immediately, Claressa Shields is banned from all MVP events until further notice.” The company added, “There is a time and a place for fighter tension and banter, but to physically attack a fellow athlete…is unacceptable,” while also thanking security for stepping in and praising Alycia for not escalating things further.
Alycia, however, isn’t letting it slide. She claims the incident was unprovoked, stating, “I was physically assaulted without provocation,” and went on to call the situation part of a “repeated pattern of hostility.” She also made it clear she plans to handle the matter “legally and professionally,” signaling this situation may not be over anytime soon.
