[UPDATE] Football Legend Deion Sanders Reveals He’s Cancer-Free: T’ve Got My Swagger Back’
Colorado head coach #DeionSanders is entering the 2026 football season with a clean bill of health, following a difficult 2025 battle with bladder cancer.
The 58-year-old made the announcement during an appearance on Good Morning America, where he was characteristically candid about his journey. “I’ve got my health back. I’ve got my swagger back,” Sanders said. “Last year at this time I was fighting cancer, didn’t know which way it was going to go. . . . I’m fully back now.”
Sanders credited early detection as a critical factor in his recovery. His cancer was discovered by doctors who were already treating him for a separate health issue — one that had previously resulted in the amputation of two of his toes. Despite the gravity of the diagnosis, Sanders said the outcome couldn’t be better. “We fought the battle and we won the battle fighting cancer,” he said. “I’m cancer-free. I’m good. Great doctors in Colorado that have brought me through. God has brought me through. I’m thankful I’m healthy.”
With his health restored, Sanders is clearly refocused on football. “I’m ready to go coach my butt off this season,” he said. “I’m having a good time.”
The #ColoradoBuffaloes and their head coach now look ahead to a fresh start.
