Concerned Father Shares Footage Of Son Being Followed By An Officer & Then Handcuffed For Reportedly Looking Suspicious While Wearing Hooded Jacket: This ‘Hurts My Heart’

A Williamsport, #Pennsylvania, businessman and father is looking for answers after his son was allegedly harassed by an officer over his jacket. Jessie Lopez Sr. shared video footage of the troubling encounter, which shows his son, Jessie Lopez Jr., being followed across the street by an officer who makes remarks about his hooded jacket. While Jessie Jr. remains calm, the officer continues trailing him and appears to grab his shoulder, claiming he was “doing a traffic stop.” In a separate clip, Jessie Jr. is seen handcuffed in the back of a police car.

“They said he looked suspicious because he had his hood up and a jacket on,” Jessie Sr. wrote before continuing, “As a father, my job is to protect him, guide him, and prepare him for situations like this.” He added, “Just looking at my son’s face sitting in the back of that car hurts my heart, man. As a father, that’s a moment I never wanted him to experience.” Jessie Sr. also explained that his son wears jackets and keeps his hood up due to eczema, noting that direct sunlight can aggravate the condition.

The Williamsport Bureau of Police has since released a statement clarifying that the officer involved is part of the Lycoming County District Attorney’s Office Narcotics Enforcement Unit. At this time, it remains unclear whether #LCNEU is investigating the incident.
