Kelis “Black Don’t Crack” Sunscreen Brand Under Fire After Seemingly Defending AI-Generated Ad, Tells Critics: Support Ya Peoples Instead Of Always Complaining

#Kelis’ latest business venture has already found itself in the hot seat.

The singer launched her Black Don’t Crack sunscreen brand this week, and some have raised concerns over the company’s AI-generated advertisement. After one person called out the brand for not casting “a real Black woman to sell sunscreen to millions of other real Black women,” the company explained that AI was used because they were ready to launch asap, but more shoots are coming soon — including some featuring Kelis.

They added, “We are even planning a shoot in Africa so chill we gotchu…How about you Support Ya peoples tooo instead of always complaining or jumping the gun and assuming things.” The response only further rubbed some fans the wrong way. Critics have also claimed their comments are being deleted and that “#AI” has since been blocked from the brand’s page. Still, not everyone is bothered by the ad, with plenty of supporters leaving positive messages and letting Kelis know they’re excited to try the chemical-free line.
