Normani completely understands why her fans are frustrated.
The former #FifthHarmony member addressed the disappointment from supporters over her debut solo studio album, Dopamine, head-on during an event at the GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles, saying, “If I’m being transparent, I know that you guys were frustrated. Imagine that times 10 for me.”After a years-long delay, #Dopamine was finally released on June 14, 2024. The project debuted at No. 91 on the Billboard 200 and was initially met with mostly positive reviews. However, fans soon voiced their disappointment with Normani over what they felt was a weak rollout and rushed era.
Letting her supporters know she hears them, #Normani continued, “I feel, like, there were such heartaches and heartbreaks that I felt I went through, just in terms of the process of having all these things lined up and aspirations, and things we talked about and aiming towards that didn’t come into fruition. I think, for me, in real time, I was navigating and felt like – I don’t want to say that I let you guys down, but you deserve so much more.”
