Singer Melanie Fiona Warns Fans Not To Confuse Artist’s TV Appearances w/ Wealth: ‘They Paid To Be There’
Grammy Award-winning singer Melanie Fiona is pulling back the curtain on what it really costs artists to appear on television. In a recent TikTok, Fiona stressed the importance of supporting musicians, explaining that TV appearances are not always the free publicity fans may assume.
“Whenever you see your favorite artist on television, they paid to be there,” she said. “Whenever you see a late-night television look or a daytime television moment, they paid to be there.”
According to her, the expenses tied to those opportunities often come directly from an artist’s budget and eventually have to be repaid.
Fiona said the financial burden can apply whether an artist is signed to a major record label or working independently, offering fans a closer look at the business costs behind high-profile promotional appearances today.
She also noted that such appearances don’t automatically mean an artist is super rich.
