Dolly Parton’s final hospitalization reportedly turned tragic far faster than the people closest to her ever expected.

Sources familiar with the situation told TMZ that Parton’s loved ones knew the country music icon had been dealing with health problems, but her d*ath Tuesday morning still came as a major shock. When family and friends learned she had been hospitalized last week and was struggling, several reportedly rushed to Nashville to be near her.

Those close to Parton apparently believed she would recover and eventually return home, as she had after previous health setbacks.

Parton died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville after being admitted early Friday while experiencing kidney and autoimmune issues.

In recent months, the 80-year-old had reportedly faced several medical concerns, including immune-system complications, digestive problems, kidney stones and medication-related issues. Her health had also forced her to cancel appearances and postpone her planned Las Vegas residency.

Despite those warning signs, sources said her d*ath was not expected.

Parton’s family is now reportedly preparing a small, private ceremony in Nashville. Plans for a larger public funeral or celebration of life have not yet been finalized.
