Gladys Knight is sharing another update about her future on the road, weeks after announcing plans to scale back her performances.

As previously reported, the 82-year-old music legend announced in August that she would be “easing into fewer performances” and transitioning into the next stage of her life and career. The decision came amid concerns surrounding her health and touring schedule, though Knight did not cite her health as the reason for stepping back.

Now, the “Midnight Train to Georgia” singer appears to be giving fans a clearer picture of what that transition will look like. In a new message, she said,

“After heartfelt discussions with my team, I recognize that no matter how much I love lifting spirits in song, it’s time for the midnight train to make just a few more stops. I’m finishing the year strong with my remaining performances.”

Knight also hinted that she isn’t leaving the spotlight entirely, adding, “Looking forward to new ventures next year. Again, I am so very grateful for all the love and support over the years. God bless all of you.”

Her latest announcement comes after weeks of discussion about whether she should continue touring. Knight’s husband and manager, William McDowell, previously said she had not been diagnosed with dementia and that a medical evaluation was planned. Knight herself has previously pushed back against concerns surrounding her health, maintaining that she was “healthy and happy.”
