Cardi B Names Keyshia Cole’s “The Way It Is” The Greatest Album Of All Time: ‘Every Woman Should Listen’
Cardi B is giving Keyshia Cole her flowers, declaring the R&B singer’s debut project the greatest album ever released.
During a new New York Times T Magazine feature published Wednesday, October 21, the Bronx rapper revealed that Cole’s 2005 album, “The Way It Is,” holds a special place in her heart.
“I was listening to that album when I was, like, 13, and I’m still listening to it when I’m 33,” Cardi shared. “Every woman should listen to that album.”
Released in July 2005, “The Way It Is” debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 and spent 64 weeks on the chart. The platinum-certified project delivered several R&B favorites, including “I Changed My Mind,” “I Should Have Cheated,” and “Love,” which peaked at No. 19 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Cardi isn’t alone in praising Cole’s debut. In 2019, Ari Lennox described the project as “one of the most phenomenal debut albums ever.”
Although Cardi and Cole have never released a collaboration, both were connected to October’s BZR WKND Jamaica festival. Cardi ultimately withdrew from the event.
