Gospel Group Mary Mary Slapped With Lawsuit By Fired Manager + Tyler Perry Gives $1 Million Dollars to Mega Church Youth Center
Popular Gospel duo Mary Mary is being slapped with a lawsuit by their ex manager, Mitchell Solarek. Solarek says that the group’s members (Erica Campbell and Tina Campbell) owe him money. According to a new lawsuit, Solarek says he inked a deal back in 2011 and helped “reignite” their career, securing deals worth over $3 million, one of which is their popular WeTV reality show, ‘Mary Mary’.
So how much does the ex-manager want? He’s asking for the loss of future commissions from music, merchandising, books and sponsorships, along with $75,000 in commissions. BTW, if you’re a fan of Mary Mary’s reality show, you’re very familiar with the group’s manager. There have been countless story lines, revolving around some conflict between them and Solarek.
And in lighter news…
Tyler Perry has the art of giving down to a science. Over the weekend, the 43-year-old movie producing mogul was in attendance at Mega Fest, a popular Christian convention held in Dallas by mega pastor, Bishop T.D. Jakes. During the service, Jakes announced that the church (The Potter’s House) would be building a new youth center. Perry, who was in the audience, spontaneously told both Jakes and the audience that he was donating $1 million for their efforts. He tearfully explained to the audience that God had told him to give and shared a personal story about how and why he’s a ‘giver’.
Giving is nothing new for Mr. Perry. In addition to catching heat from some critics, there are others that suggest that the New Orleans native is not only leaving an imprint in Hollywood (and TV via OWN for that matter), but is also an example of a celebrity who continuously gives back in public and private. Anywho, congrats to him and Potter’s House! P.S. Here’s footage of Tyler Perry channeling his inner pastor, while catching the spirit :)
