Designer Michael Costello Releases Statement, After Accusations of Racism
Just days after accusations of racial slurs were released, fashion designer Michael Costello is responding. Recently, the designer (who has dressed folk like Beyonce, Keri Hilson, Khloe Kardashian, Tamar Braxton, etc.) has been surrounded by all types of drama.
Here’s the backstory. Reportedly, online boutique owner Maxine James expressed in an Instagram post that Costello purchased one of her designs, then shared it on his Instagram page as if it were his own creation.
According to Maxine, after sharing her frustration over her alleged stolen design, some of her Instagram followers began to contact Costello (via Instagram) and defend Maxine. An alleged screen shot was shared on Instagram that showed Costello using the n-word, while arguing over the incident. Here’s the alleged screen grab
