Phylicia Rashad Says She Was Misquoted: I would never say such a thing. [VIDEO]
‘He’s a genius. He’s generous. He’s kind. He’s inclusive.’ Those are the words that Phylicia Rashad used to describe Bill Cosby, in the wake of sexual assault and rape allegations that began to plague the legendary comedian/actor late last year. In an interview with ABC News correspondent Linsey Davis, Rashad states that her former TV husband is being judged unfairly:
What has happened is, declaration in the media of guilt without proof…
During the interview, Rashad is also asked about a comment that she made to Showbizz 411, when she was quoted as saying:
Forget these women. What you’re seeing is the destruction of a legacy. And I think it’s orchestrated. I don’t know why or who’s doing it, but it’s the legacy.
Rashad says that is not what she said:
And that was a misquote. And that is not what I said, what I said is this is not about the women this is about something else…This is about the obliteration of legacy.
When Davis replies:
Cuz some people might think it was dismissive.
Rashad interjects:
I am a woman, I would never say such a thing.

And in more Cosby news, three more women have accused him of drugging and sexually assaulting them years ago. On Wednesday in Los Angeles, Attorney Gloria Allred held a news conference with the women who claimed to have unwanted encounters with Cosby between 1981 and 1996 in LA and Las Vegas. Reportedly, the accusations are too old for criminal charges or lawsuits, but she reiterated her challenge that Cosby waive the statute of limitations to allow lawsuits. [Associated Press]
