‘My wife may not be black, but she’s mine’. Derek Luke Reacts to Criticism About Wife’s Nationality

Derek Luke is baffled that in 2015, some still have an issue with people dating outside of their race. As you know, the Empire actor is African American and his wife — of 17 years — is of another race. Apparently, after posting a few flix on Instagram of his wife, some criticized him for being with a woman who wasn’t African American. Derek posted a lengthy Instagram message, defending his wife. He writes:

I never usually entertain the opinions of others because everyone is entitled to they’re own opinion. (Positive or Negative)

But we’re in the year of 2015 & when should it be a “problem” to date outside of your race? Why is that an issue AGAIN? I’m doing the unusual & going through my comments & the comments I see about my wife being another race is bugging me out.
