[EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW] Jackie Christie On Being Misunderstood & Why She Regrets Spitting On Cast Mate: ‘It was wrong & I apologized’
Jackie Christie was originally just known as the wife of retired basketball player Doug Christie, but now she’s considered one of the break-out stars on VH1’s hit reality show, Basketball Wives: LA. Over
the past few years, we’ve seen Jackie break-up and make-up with pretty much the whole cast, but now she’s focused on getting her friendship with the ladies back on solid ground and making sure the world sees her for who she truly is. theJasmineBRAND.com correspondent @SmithWorldWide sat down with Jackie, while she spilled all sorts of tea about her love life (and her take on not providing oral services to her husband); the rumored incident where she spat on newbie Mehgan James; why Sundy Carter didn’t return to the show and more! Peep a few excerpts.
Not providing oral sex to her husband:
You know what, that’s a good question and it’s funny because I didn’t know it was so prevalent and everybody’s doing it until I got on the show. Then all the girls were like”girl you gotta do this,” and Draya done showed me how to suck a lollipop, Malaysia with the ice cream. Well, I’m just like, I just don’t. I don’t know, I just never got into that. But you’re always learning and always evolving, you know our relationship always changes and evolves. You know we’ve been married for 20 years and made it, so imagine the next 20.
One of the most misunderstood things about her:
You know what, I think a lot of stigmas was put on me, a lot of lies were said from season one, way back then that followed me through the seasons and I’m just over trying to fix it and I just want the world to be a judge of your own thing. Don’t be a follower, be a leader. Don’t jump on the bandwagon, just watch and you’ll see. Time shows you everything, so I feel like being misunderstood in a way of being blunt, that’s looked at oh, she’s a troublemaker.I even say it to Patrice on the last episode, I don’t start trouble and she was like “oh, I’ve seen some things.” You know people just misunderstand because I’m so blunt and so real. That’s just the way I am and I don’t think I’m ever going to change it and some people appreciate that.
Spitting on or at Mehgan James:
You know what people again have to watch the show. I will say that me and…Meghan’s mature. She’s only 24 but for her age she’s a lot more mature and she understands. I was very passionate, very upset and everything came to a head this season cause it’s like ok, enough lying on me, stop faking, stop pretending. I’m not 60, I’m not 50, stop with all these games. Quit putting these stigmas on me, cause I ain’t did nothing to you guys, so when she kept saying that certain thing she was saying, which you guys will see on the show, I warned her like 10 times “You gonna say it one more time and there’s going to be a problem.” If I wanted to hurt her, I would not have spit on her. I would have grabbed her around the neck and threw her on the floor. I would have gotten physical with her, but that’s not what I do. It just made me mad. It was wrong and I apologized.

Why Sundy Carter wasn’t invited back on the show:
No, I don’t know what happened, but I will say that I have a lot of respect for her and she’s doing some awesome things. So people stay tuned and they can catch her in some other stuff.
If she reached out to Draya after her split with Orlando:
No, I didn’t reach out because I felt like she was going through enough but I did tell her throughout the season, we’ve talked and you know, you guys will see that on the show. Even off camera, I really respect her and like her and I think she’s been through a lot and I don’t wanna go there with her no more, so hopefully we’re in a different place. But we’re always going to have that big sister, little sister, sibling rivalry type of thing.
How her relationship is now with her daughter Tacarri:
I love my daughter and she is, she’s Carri. You know I’ve learned over the years, you forgive and you move on but one thing about a mother and her kid, you’re going to always love them. There’s nothing they can do, that’s so wrong that will make you not love them and I love
her. We’re good. We’ve been good for a long time now and you know, it is what it is. I think that a lot of times things are misunderstood, things kids do is wrong but when they realize it and understand it and say I’m sorry, as a mother you have to understand it. And I know I’m a good mom and I know she’s a good daughter and I know a lot happened but I never went public and trashed any of my kids. I wouldn’t do that.
Jackie also discusses her relationship with Malaysia Pargo, her favorite Basketball Wives LA cast mate and her latest business ventures outside of reality TV. See the full interview below.
