‘That’s Disrespectful!’ Nicki Minaj Abruptly Ends Interview After Question About Thriving On Drama & Meek vs Drake Beef
Nicki Minaj is making a few headlines after a new lengthy interview with New York Times Magazine. In the interview, the mega rap star dishes on everything from Miley Cyrus to her romantic relationship.
She explains about her fall-out between her and Miley Cyrus:
The fact that you feel upset about me speaking on something that affects black women makes me feel like you have some big balls. You’re in videos with black men, and you’re bringing out black women on your stages, but you don’t want to know how black women feel about something that’s so important? Come on, you can’t want the good without the bad. If you want to enjoy our culture and our lifestyle, bond with us, dance with us, have fun with us, twerk with us, rap with us, then you should also want to know what affects us, what is bothering us, what we feel is unfair to us. You shouldn’t not want to know that.
However, things turn tense in the interview when the interviewer (Vanessa Grigoriadis) asks about both the Meek Mill vs Drake beef, along with the drama between Lil Wayne and Birdman. When asked about the feud between Meek and Drake she states:
They’re men, grown-ass men. It’s between them.
And when asked how it makes her feel, she says:
I hate it. It doesn’t make me feel good. You don’t ever want to choose sides between people you love. It’s ridiculous. I just want it to be over.
The question or comment that seemed to be offensive to Minaj, is when the interviewer began,
Is there a part of you that thrives on drama, or is it no, just pain and unpleasantness—
