Beyonce Under Vocal Rest, Postpones Concert

Beyonce’s hectic schedule is catching up to her. On Monday, it was announced that doctors had ordered for her to take some vocal rest from her Formation World Tour. According to her web site, she has postponed the Sept. 7 MetLife Stadium stop of her tour until Oct. 7.

She will be proceeding with the dates already scheduled for St. Louis, Los Angeles, Santa Clara, Houston, New Orleans, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Nashville.

The Formation World Tour is her seventh concert tour and is in support of her sixth studio album, Lemonade. The all-stadium tour was announced following her guest appearance at the Super Bowl 50 halftime show. The tour started on April 27, 2016 in Miami, Florida and concludes on October 7, 2016 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The tour’s title is in reference to Beyoncé’s 2016 song “Formation”.

The tour’s production and staging consists of a 60 feet tall rotating LED box referred to as the ‘Monolith’, a treadmill runway and a secondary stage that stores and produces 2,000 gallons of water. The theme of the tour is described as following the same linear chapters to that of the tour’s supporting album Lemonade, with each rotation of the aforementioned ‘Monolith’ representing a new chapter of the show.

The tour has currently grossed $210 million from 40 sold out shows.

Beyoncé turned 35 on Sunday and attended the Made in America Festival in Philadelphia with her husband and festival founder Jay-Z.
