(EXCLUSIVE) Suge Knight Denies Owing Rappers Over Snoop Dogg Hit Song
theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports, Suge Knight is firing back at two unknown rappers accusing him of illegally profiting off their work. The currently incarcerated ex-music mogul denying he owes the men and is pleading for the judge to throw out their case.
Here’s the latest: On January 17th, the former Death Row head denied all allegations he illegally profited off rappers Antonio White and Craig Ward’s work. He argues that the men waited way past the statutes of limitation to file the suit and accuses them of breach of contract, NOT him. He is pleading for the judge to dismiss him from the case. Suge is currently awaiting the start of his murder trial.
Here’s the backstory: Antonio White & Craig Ward – both L.A. rappers – sued Snoop Dogg, Suge Knight, Dr. Dre, Nate Dogg and Warren G over the classic Snoop song, “Ain’t No Fun (If The Homies Can’t Have None)”. The men wrote a track titled, “Ain’t No Fun” back in 1991 and played it in the studio for Suge Knight, Snoop and Dre.
According to the docs, Snoop & Dre loved the track, which lead to Suge working out a deal with the unknown rappers. He promised them a record deal and said he would promote their careers, which never happened.
The suit pointed out to a 2013 Rolling Stone interview in which he was quoted as saying “Ain’t No Fun” had already been recorded by “one of the homies” before he heard it. The rappers sued for unspecified damages and lost profits.
