Ice Cube Snags 8 Figure Deal With Hong Kong Investor
Ice Cube Partners Hong Kong Investor
Business is booming for Ice Cube (real name O’Shea Jackson). His production company, Cube Vision, has snagged a strategic partnership with AID Partners, a media investment company founded by Hong Kong entrepreneur Kelvin Wu. According to a report, the deal is eight figures and establishes Cube Vision as a major buyer of original content and allows them to develop its own slate, hire its own screenwriters and then bring fully developed projects to studios — allowing him to bypass the studio development process. Cube said in a statement,
My singular goal with Cube Vision is to continue to build a creative company that puts content quality and talent at the heart of every decision. Kelvin’s partnership and new friendship with me and Jeff allow us to do just that. We have a meaningful global financing partner who understands and appreciates how the right funding and creative autonomy will empower us to build a platform to grow together. What is especially exciting to me are the business opportunities in Asia to expand as we realize more success.
Ice Cube, is a rapper, songwriter, record producer, actor and filmmaker. He began his career as a member of the hip-hop group C.I.A. and later joined the seminal rap group N.W.A (Niggaz With Attitudes). After leaving N.W.A in December 1989, he built a successful solo career in music and films such as a role in drama Boyz n the Hood. Additionally, he has served as one of the producers of the Showtime television series Barbershop and the TBS series Are We There Yet?, both of which are based upon films in which he portrayed the main character.
