“All Eyez On Me” Earns $27 Million + Producer LT Hutton Signs With APA
“All Eyez on Me” Earns $27 Million
Great news for “All Eyez on Me”! According to a report, the biopic of Tupac Shakur from Lionsgate and Summit, is expected to earn just over $27 million in its opening weekend. Initially the film, which starred Demetrius Shipp Jr. and was directed by Benny Boom, was projected to make $30 million. The movie had a $45 million budget.
Unlike “Straight Outta Compton”, which opened in August of 2015 to over $60 million, it won’t break any records, but the film did have a solid opening.
The film has received mixed reviews. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has an approval rating of 24% based on 37 reviews, with an average rating of 4.3/10. On Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating, the film has a score of 38 out of 100, based on 17 critics, indicating “generally unfavorable reviews”. Audiences polled by CinemaScore gave the film an average grade of “A–” on an A+ to F scale.
Meanwhile, the film’s producer, L.T. Hutton has signed with APA. Hutton also was head of A&R at Ruthless Records and worked on several projects with Death Row. In addition to 2Pac, he produced records for Snoop Dogg, Mariah Carey, Eazy-E, N.W.A., Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Krayzie Bone, Da Brat, Ashanti, Bow Wow, Nate Dogg, Daz and MC Ren, as well as multiple movie soundtracks.
