EXCLUSIVE: Ex Olympic Track Star Marion Jones Avoids Home Being Foreclosed, Hit with Judgement
Marion Jones has avoided losing her home to foreclosure, after a judge decided to not order her home be sold but rather hit her with a money judgement.
Earlier this year, Jones and her husband Obadele Thompson were sued by the Highland Park North Homeowners Association. They sought to foreclose on her home due to the couple failing to pay certain assessments due.
The homeowner’s association claimed they refusing to pay fees relating to their Pflugerville, TX home. The association said Marion has caused them to suffer monetary damages, interest and attorney fees. The homeowners claim to have mailed Marion numerous notices requesting payment but they have failed.
The association demanded the court allow them to foreclosure on the home and use to profits to pay off the debt they were owed, which was only $1,995.19 (for fees from 2016 – now), but the association pointed out that does not include attorney fees they incurred.
Recently, the Texas judge came back with his decision and denied the association’s demand to foreclosure on Marion’s home.
Instead, he ordered Marion and her husband pay a total of $4,954.03, which was the original amount owed plus attorney fees and court costs. The case was closed the same day.
