Kanye West Donates $150,000 To The Family Of Security Guard Shot By Police
26-year-old Jemel Roberson will forever be known as a hero. Last week, a gunman opened fire at Manny’s Blue Room in Chicago. Roberson, who was working security, returned fire, subdued the gunman and reportedly pinned him to the ground until cops arrived. However, when cops got to the scene, they reportedly mistook Roberson for the gunman and fatally shot him. According to Roberson’s lawyer, Roberson was wearing a hat that read “Security” on it and several witnesses verbally called out to the officer that Roberson as security.
Kanye West has heard about the story and decided to give back in a major way. On Friday, he donated $150,000 to Roberson’s family. Roberson’s family had previously started a GoFundMe after his death. The goal was only $10,000 and had already earned over $140,000 after over 4,000 people donated.
Roberson had been working extra shifts to buy his 9-month-old son Christmas gifts. He also had another baby on the way. Condolences to Roberson’s family.
