Russell Westbrook Shoved By Young Fan During Game, Warns Parent: You Can’t Have Your Son Hitting Random People!
After stepping out of bounds during a Tuesday night road game in Denver, Co., Russell Westbrook stepped slightly into the first row section and a young fan gave the 6-foot-3 guard a quick shove on the arm. After giving the kid a look, Westbrook walked over to have a conversation with the kid and his Dad. Russell ended the discussion with a quick love tap on the knee and jogged by to the court. Post-game, Westbrook touched on a better player protection for all NBA players.
He spoke on the child hitting him on the court,
He hit me. So I told his Dad, you know, just, ‘Be careful man, you can’t just have your son hitting random people,’ I don’t know him, he don’t know me, so.
He continued, speaking on the parent’s responsibly for young fan’s interaction with players,
“He’s responsible for his kid. Watch the game, sit there, have fun, enjoy. For all the fans though, there’s too much leeway, man, for the fans to be able to touch the players and get away with it. And then we can’t react and do the things that we need to do to protect ourselves.
Westbrook ends his comments on having respect for the players during games.
“It’s important that they understand, kids, whoever it is, dads, moms, that they can say what they want, as long as it’s respectful, but the touching is, to me, off limits.”
The home team ended the game with the victory, Nuggets winning 121-112, Westbrook ended the game with a double-double, scoring 22pts, with 14rebs. In the playoff hunt, the Thunder sit third out of seven in the Western Conference.
