Ashley Graham Speaks Out After Some NYC Hospitals Ban Partners From Delivery Rooms: Mothers Need That Support System

Ashley Graham has a few words after a handful of hospitals in New York City are banning significant others from delivery rooms amid the coronavirus.

The new mom, who just welcomed her son in January, shared her thoughts on Instagram while her breastfeeding newborn.

She explained,

“Due to COVID-19 there are some hospitals in New York City that are not allowing mothers to have their significant others in the room when they are delivering, which means mothers will not have support system when they’re actually delivering their child.”

She added that while the coronavirus has called for many to be on lockdown, that doesn’t take away from the support moms need for their delivery.

“I understand that hospitals have to protect their staff, they have to protect the patient, the mothers, the children, and everybody else who’s there. But I really believe that mothers need to have that support system. Even if it’s just one face that they know and they trust.”

She continued,

“I know that if I wouldn’t have had someone to look in my eyes and tell me I could do it, I would’ve had a much different delivery process for me. I do believe that we need to continue to stay home to really flatten the curve. But bringing life into the world is a whole other conversation. Of course people are going to be safe when they go into the hospital.

She ended with letting her followers know she’s also teamed up with midwives to provide resources for those who have home deliveries.
