The World Mourns the Loss of Technology Innovator, Steve Jobs

Wednesday evening, the internet and social media sites began to flood with fans everywhere mourning the loss of 56-year-old Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. He recently stepped down from his position as CEO as a result of his health complications. In 2004, he announced that he had a form of pancreatic cancer, which later resulted in him receiving a liver transplant. To express their grief over a great man lost, celebrities, including President Obama and Bill Gates, released statements expressing their sadness.
In a statement President Obama said,
“Steve was among the greatest of America’s innovators— brave enough to think differently, bold enough to believe he could change the world, and talented enough to do it. By building one of the planet’s most successful companies from his garage, he exemplified the spirit of American ingenuity….”
Microsoft’s Bill Gates provided a statement after Apple’s announcement saying,
“I’m truly saddened to learn of Steve Jobs’ death……..Steve and I first met nearly 30 years ago, and have been colleagues, competitors, and friends over the course of more than half our lives……I will miss Steve immensely.”
Artists Will.I.Am, Nicki Minaj, Pharrell Williams, Snoop Dogg, Kreayshawn and Lupe Fiasco all tweeted their condolences. Host Ryan Seacrest tweeted a quote from Jobs’ himself and Tyra Banks used one of Jobs’ revolutionary products to grieve.

This vast reaction from the general public shows how much of an influential man Steve Jobs was and the impact he had on lives. May he rest in peace.
