Halfway through the performance, the sound of gunshots rung out on tape before audio of a famous Minister Farrakhan speech played with the accompanying text on the screen:
“The most disrespected, unprotected, neglected person in America is the black woman. Who taught you to hate the texture of your hair, the color of your skin, the shape of your nose? Who taught you to hate yourself?”
The performance went on to include audio from activist Tamika D Mallory as well. After playing snippets of others Megan herself spoke and addressed the audience.

She said,
“We need to protect our black women and love our black women because at the end of the day we need our black women,” said The Stallion to the SNL audience. “We need to protect our black men and stand up for our black men because at the end of the day we are tired of seeing hashtags about black men!”
The Stallion ended the song with a fist in the air.

The performance appears to be a nod to what’s been going on in Megan’s life. Back in July, she was shot in the foot after hanging out with rapper Tory Lanez and socialite Kylie Jenner.

She later identified rapper Tory Lanez as the shooter.
Most recently Tory Lanez put out an entire song addressing the incident and seemingly maintained his innocence.
