Jennifer Lopez Criticized For Calling Herself A “Black Girl From The Bronx” In New Song
Jennifer Lopez has found herself in hot water after some fans discovered controversial lyrics in her collaboration with Colombian singer Maluma.
On the track “Lonely” JLo sings “Siempre serás tu negrita del Bronx,” which translates to
“I’ll always be your Black girl from the Bronx.”
A clip from Jenny From The Block singing the lyrics was posted online that stared the conversation.

Some have tried to defend the lyrics, using Google translate to try and get clarity on the controversial lyrics. The translation allegedly says,
“Ill always be your n*gga from the Bronx.”
But it turns out JLo did in fact call herself a Black girl from the Bronx on the track.

Some fans have also brought up the fact that Jennifer Lopez used the term “n*gga* in her 2001 track “I’m Real.” On the track she sings,
“Now people screaming “what the deal with you and so-and-so?”
I tell ’em n*ggas mind their biz but they don’t hear me though.”

Jennifer Lopez has always been proud of her Bronx roots. Earlier this year she posted a picture wearing a graphic tee while en route to her destination with a shirt that read “Bronx Girl Magic.”
“@JLo Bronx Girl Magic”

The phrase is a cheeky New York Burrough-spin on the already popular phrase, #BlackGirlMagic.
