Widow Of WWE Star Shad Gaspard Is Suing The City Of Los Angeles For Negligence Over His Drowning
The untimely death of WWE star Shad Gaspard on May 17 is still an open wound for his wife Siliana Gaspard and their 10-year-old son Aryeh. The WWE star perished in the waters of Venice Beach after swimming with this son and being overtaken by a rip current that he was unable to swim against. Moments before his drowning, when a lifeguard swam out to rescue the pair, Shad Gaspard directed the guard to rescue his son first. When the lifeguard returned to rescue Shad, an eye witness said the 39-year-old athlete had disappeared after he was struck by an incoming wave.

A new report states that Siliana Gaspard filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the City of LA, plus LA County and the state of California – alleging ‘dangerous conditions’ at Venice Beach and ‘negligence’. According to Siliana Gaspard, there were not enough signs to warn her husband and son of the ‘danger or risk’ of swimming at the beach.
Reportedly, Siliana Gaspard also alleges that the lifeguards were slow to react, poorly trained, understaffed and lacking proper equipment.
In a court document filing, Siliana said when lifeguards
‘saw Shad and A.G. [Aryeh Gaspard] struggling in the water,’
they
‘did not do anything for an unreasonable and negligent amount of time.’
According to Siliana, the lifeguards
‘chose to only assist A.G. and left Shad Gaspard in the water to die.’
Siliana is reportedly seeking unspecified financial damages and burial costs. A hearing has been scheduled for June 6, 2021 at LA Superior Court.
Let’s continue to pray for this family.
