Beyonce Is Skipping The Grammys Despite Having The Most Nominations This Year
The biggest night in music will be missing one of its main stars.
Beyonce’s nine Grammy nominations, which is the highest any artist received this year, aren’t enough for her to show up for the star-studded event.
Recording Academy interim chief executive Harvey Mason Jr. confirmed the news with the Los Angeles Times Friday, March 12th. He expressed his disappointment and said,
“It’s unfortunate, because she’s such a big part of the Recording Academy. We absolutely wish we had her onstage.”
He also stated that news of Beyonce’s absence isn’t a trick to shock fans with a surprise performance.
Beyonce was nominated for Best Song (“Black Parade”), Best Record (“Savage Remix”), Best Record (“Black Parade”), Best Music Video (“Brown Skin Girl”), Best Rap Song (“Savage Remix”), Best R&B Song (“Black Parade”), Best Rap Performance *”Savage Remix”), Best Music Film (Black Is King), and Best R&B Performance (“Black Parade”).

The Weeknd
Her decision comes after The Weeknd pledged to boycott the Grammy Awards after he was snubbed despite his successful album After Hours. He told The New York Times,
“Because of the secret committees, I will no longer allow my label to submit my music to the Grammys.”
He also slammed the Grammys in November after he didn’t receive a nomination.
