Biz Markie’s Life Celebrated At Funeral Service + Ice-T, Fat Joe & Busta Rhymes Among Those In Attendance
Family and friends came together yesterday (Monday, August 2nd) to lay Biz Markie to rest.
As previously reported, Biz Markie passed away on Friday, July 16th due to diabetes complications. Yesterday (Monday, August 2nd), the entertainer was laid to rest as his loved ones celebrated his life. The service was also live-streamed on BET’s YouTube channel.

Various celebrities attended Biz Markie‘s funeral, including Ice-T, Busta Rhymes, Al B. Sure!, Roxanne Shante, Fat Joe, Demont Pinder, and Kid Capri. In an Instagram upload from the event, Kid Capri wrote:
“We sent my brother off well today, there will never be another one, and I’m gonna ALWAYS hold you down!! Rest well my icon!! You are supremely loved forever!!!”

Additionally, Rev. Al Sharpton delivered the eulogy at the funeral. In part, he said:
“He cared for people, he had a way of making us laugh through our pain. He’d come in a room and his presence didn’t have to be announced, it was felt. Everybody in this room is here because Biz earned our attendance, because he was always there for us. He was our star. He was more than just a friend. The hit record doesn’t tell you the whole story. Thank you, Biz. You never let us down. You were more than just a friend.”

Biz Markie‘s wife, Tara Hall, also spoke at the service, stating:
“The thing I’m going to miss the most about him was every time he would see me, his face would just light up with that Chiclet, toothy smile. He made me laugh every day. That is not hyperbole. That is a fact.”
