Birdman Addresses Kissing Lil Wayne On The Lips: I Was In The Streets & Thought ‘This Might Be The Last Time He Ever See Me’

Birdman is speaking on his memorable kiss with Lil Wayne!

As you may recall, an infamous photo of Birdman (real name Bryan Williams) kissing Lil Wayne began circulating back in late 2006. There were additional times Birdman was caught kissing his protégé–such as during a 2002 episode of Rap City–though the 2006 photo is perhaps the most well-known instance.

For years, many have remained perplexed over why Birdman shared a kiss with Lil Wayne. However, Birdman recently decided to shed some light on the matter while speaking on Revolt TV’s Big Facts podcast. He revealed:

“First of all, my own born son, I would kiss him… I always looked at Wayne as my son, and I always looked at it like–’cause I was in the streets–I thought ‘This might be the last time he ever see me.’ ‘Cause I was living like that. That’s what that s**t really started from–’cause I thought that every night I leave, I might not ever come back. And I always today look at Wayne as my child. I was his father when he didn’t have a father since he was nine years old. And I love him like my own–I’d give my life for him and I’d take a life for him.”
