Drake Removes Himself From 2022 Grammy Awards Lineup
Drake Reportedly Removes Himself From The 2022 Grammy Awards Lineup, Pulls 2 Nominations
Drake could be heading into a hiatus soon.
Canadian rap star Drake has had quite a year, and it’s evident that he could be transitioning into a break period. According to reports, Drake will not be participating in the 2022 Grammy Awards. He was to receive two nominations but reportedly chose to withdraw from the entire show.
Earlier this year, Drake released Certified Lover Boy, which broke several records and set Twitter’s trending topics ablaze. The album could’ve potentially earned him two Grammys: Best Rap Album and Best Rap Performance for “Way 2 Sexy.”

Drake hasn’t made any public statements about his alleged decision. One outlet claims that when they reached out to his team, they had nothing to say. The publication also reported that a source close to Drake said that he simply chose to remove himself from the festivities, and the Grammys obliged.
These allegations align with some of Drake’s most recent actions. Just last month, he pulled his long-awaited single with French Montana, though he planned to release the song at a later date. This came shortly after he performed at the fatal Astroworld festival, which occurred weeks before his French Montana feature was expected to hit streaming platforms.

As a result of the Astroworld tragedy, Drake was named in a $2 billion lawsuit, along with fellow rapper Travis Scott and concert promoter Live Nation Entertainment.
In addition to the mounting Astroworld lawsuits, he is in the midst of a defamation lawsuit with a woman who reportedly broke into his home in 2017. Drake is allegedly demanding to have the case thrown out as the woman continues to make things difficult for him.
If Drake, indeed, chooses to step out of the spotlight indefinitely, this will be the first time in his 10-year run. Since the release of his 2010 album Thank Me Later, Drake has consistently remained a force in the music industry with four Grammys under his belt.
