T-Pain Reveals How Many Streams It Takes For Artists To Make A $1, Fans React To Napster Paying Artist The Most
T-Pain has set the internet on fire and has everyone talking! The 36-year-old singer is currently trending after he shared a photo detailing the number of streams an artist needs on various music platforms in order to earn just $1. The tweet has since earned over 70 thousand likes and nearly 24 thousand retweets at the time of this writing. With his tweet, T-Pain reminded us just how many streams it takes an artist to earn any money at all.

Many fans were surprised by these numbers, especially from the big name streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music. According to the RIAA’s 2020 report, Spotify averages $.00437 per stream while Apple Music averages about $.00783.
Thanks to T-Pains‘ tweet, fans were shocked to learn that not only did Napster still exist in 2021, but the company pays artists the most per stream compared to the other streaming competitors. This is pretty ironic seeing how Napster has historically been credited for nearly “killing the music industry”. The company filed for bankruptcy in 2002 after losing a series of copyright infringement lawsuits, most notably being sewed by rock band Metallica back in 2000.
T-Pain’s tweet instantly made Napster trend on Twitter, with many people reacting to the news that the controversial company was once considered the villain of the music industry and is now seemingly ‘the good guy’ of streaming. See reactions below:
