Jacqueline Avant Shooter Pleads Guilty To Home Invasion & Murder
The man arrested and charged in the shooting death of Jacqueline Avant–the philanthropist and wife of celebrated music executive Clarence Avant– pleaded guilty today. Former convict, Aariel Maynor, who previously pleaded not guilty on December 17 sang a different tune Thursday (Mar.3) when he plead guilty to a long list of charges including: one count of murder, one count of attempted murder, one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and two counts of robbing a home with a person present. He also admitted that he shot at the Avants’ security guard, who was present during the robbery but not injured. With these charges, Maynor could face up to 170 years to life in prison.

As previously reported, Clarence Avant’s wife Jacqueline Avant, 81, was murdered in a home invasion on Dec.1 in their Beverly Hills home. Clarence was reportedly asleep during the break-in. Reports also stated security was patrolling the front of the house and the suspect appears to have entered from the side yard. The gunshot was heard by a security guard on the scene who says the suspect fired at him just before he fled the scene. Cops arrested Aariel Maynor later that night. Reportedly, he was attempting another burglary in the Hollywood Hills, where he accidentally shot himself in the foot.
Jacqueline Avant was known as a philanthropist dedicated to helping low-income neighborhoods. Her husband Clarence Avant, known as the “Godfather of Black Music,” is a legend in the music industry and has worked with the likes of Louis Armstrong, the SOS Band, Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis,Babyface and Diddy. The Grammy award winning music exec was just inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021, shortly before the tragic death of his wife.

Aariel Maynor’s sentencing is currently scheduled for March 30.
