Tupac Shakur Was Reportedly ‘Hurt’ & Upset By Jada Pinkett’s Request For Him To Not Do Anything Violent To Will Smith

The triangle made up of Will Smith, Jada Pinkett-Smith and Tupac Shakur remains a thing—more than 25 years after his death.

It’s no surprise that Jada Pinkett Smith and Tupac Shakur shared a close friendship, with most people believing he was the love of her life.

Now, a clip has resurfaced that is sure to raise a few eyebrows. Outlawz collaborator Mutah “Napoleon” Beale previously revealed in an interview on the Art of Dialogue YouTube channel that the late rapper was “hurt” by a request from Jada Pinkett Smith. He said,

“The second time I probably heard [Tupac] talk about [Jada] is when he went to LA. He was very upset, you know what I mean? Pac came out of the room and was like, ‘Jada she gon’ contact me and tell me don’t do nothing to Will Smith.’ So Pac was upset. He was like I don’t know why she thinks I would try to make some problem with Will Smith.’ So I guess it kind of hurt him.”

Napoleon said that more than anything, Tupac Shakur respected Jada Pinkett Smith, and by no means did he have a desire to be viewed as someone so violent and impulsive that he would harm her significant other. He continued,

“I think Pac respected Jada Pinkett. That was a choice. He was the type of person that he was going to support her. Like I said, he was offended when she asked him not to do anything to Will Smith from a standpoint not to be violent towards him. I think that just probably hurt him more than anything ’cause he’s like what do you think this is? I’m not just walking around being this impulsive, violent individual. I think that probably hurt his feelings a bit at that particular time.”

Pinkett Smith revealed in 2015 that she and Tupac were not physically attracted to each other. She said the same thing when she told PEOPLE two years later that they were never romantic, though she has never shied away from boasting about their friendship.

Legendary rapper Yo-Yo appears to agree with Pinkett Smith, claiming in a prior interview that she, too, had a special love connection with Tupac. She also said that the ‘Dear Mama’ rapper’s relationship with Pinkett Smith isn’t what it appears to be. Yo-Yo said,

“Tupac had a love for Jada but he had a love for women. Anyone he dealt with he loved.”

She added,

“He had many loves. He loved sincerely and if he gave you a piece of him you would remember, He probably slept with some of friends, but we all love him.”

Will Smith has previously expressed his insecurity over his wife’s friendship with Tupac. On ‘The Breakfast Club’, he said,

“That was in the early days. That was a big regret for me too ’cause I could never open up to interact with Pac.”

He continued,

“We had a little bit of a thing because they grew up together and they loved each other but they never had a sexual relationship. But they had come into that age where now that was a possibility and then Jada was with me. So Pac had a little thing on that, but she just loved him. He was the image of perfection, but she was with the Fresh Prince.”

The clip resurfacing comes almost a month after Will Smith walked on stage during the Oscars and slapped Chris Rock for making a joke in reference to Pinkett Smith‘s shaved head. The public has seemingly been split by Smith‘s actions, but he has since resigned from the Academy Awards and been banned from attending any events for the next 10 years.
