Tisha Campbell Speaks On How Tommy Ford’s Death Could Affect Potential ‘Martin’ Reboot: It’s Just Too Hard To See Ourselves Without Him
Despite the countless request from fans, it doesn’t look like a “Martin” reboot will be happening anytime soon!
The sitcom “Martin” initially premiered on August 27, 1992, and lasted for 5 seasons. During its run, the series earned two People’s Choice Awards, two NAACP Image Awards, and was nominated three times for a Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award. Despite the comedy show ending nearly 30 years ago, it still has a cult fan following and is often at the center of a reboot conversation.

The cast of “Martin” recently reconnected to quench their fans’ thirst during a reunion special. The special, which aired on June 16, on BET+, featured the entire main cast with the exception of Thomas Ford (aka Tommy). Ford, who played Martin’s best friend Tommy in the series, died in 2016 from a ruptured abdominal aneurysm at the age of 52.

During a recent interview, Tisha Campbell, 53, spoke on the possibility of there being a “Martin” reboot and shared how Thomas Ford’s unexpected death may stop that from happening. She said,
“Tommy is not with us so that’s a little hard to say.”
She continued,
“It really is too hard. We would miss him so much. Well never say never, like Martin [Lawrence] says — but it’s just too hard to see ourselves without him.”

If “Martin” is ever officially rebooted, the series would join the growing list of 90s sitcoms that came back for another go-around, including “The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air.” The new series, titled “Bel-Air,” is a drama show that premiered earlier this year. Season 2 of the series is currently in the works.
