Kid Cudi Opens Up About His Feud w/ Kanye West: ‘It’s Gonna Take A Motherf**g Miracle For Me And That Man To Be Friends Again..I Don’t See It Happening’

When it comes to Kanye West, Kid Cudi is not holding back on how he feels!

During a recent interview with Esquire Magazine, Kid Cudi talked about his mental health, new music, and his upcoming Netflix project. The rapper also addressed his ongoing feud with his former friend Kanye West.

While Kid Cudi initially did not want to discuss the “Praise God” rapper during his interview, Cudi took it as an opportunity to express himself on his own terms versus reacting when Kanye says something publicly and has the spotlight on him. When it came to correcting misconceptions about his relationship with the Yeezy designer, Cudi didn’t hold back. He starts off by pointing out that while the two men have collaborated musically for the past decade, there seems to have been a double standard in their working relationship. Kid Cudi explained,

“I’ve been on every one of that man’s albums. He’s only been on two of mine. That should tell you something..And don’t think I didn’t ask.”

Over the years, the two have repeatedly feuded, mostly over creative differences, but they have always been able to reconcile, thay it until now. Things took a turn for the worse in February of this year, whe Kanye West announced that Kid Cudi was not featured on his album Donda 2.

On Instagram, Kanye posted a throwback photo of himself and Cudi posing with actor Timothé Chalamet and comedian Pete Davidson, who famously dated Kanye’s ex-wife, Kim Kardashian. The picture had an X over Davidson’s face.

Cudi then responded with a tweet calling Kanye West a dinosaur, adding,

“Everyone knows I’ve been the best thing about ur albums since I met u. Ima pray for u brother.”

In April, the “Talk About Me” rapper wrote on Twitter that they were no longer friends.

Kid Cudi then candidly expresses the hurt and frustration that situation caused him. He said,

“Do you know how it feels to wake up one day, look at your social media, and you’re trending because somebody’s talking some sh*t about you?” And then you got this person’s trolls sending you messages on Instagram and Twitter? All in your comments?”

He continued,

“That sh*t pissed me off. That he had the power to f*ck with me that week. That he used his power to f*ck with me. That pissed me off… You f*cking with my mental health now, bro.”

Cudi then addresses West directly:

“I’m not one of your kids. I’m not Kim. It don’t matter if I’m friends with Pete or not friends with Pete. None of this sh*t had anything to do with me. If you can’t be a grown man and deal with the fact that you lost your woman? That’s not my f*cking problem. You need to own up to your sh*t like every man in this life has. I’ve lost women, too. And I’ve had to own up to it. I don’t need that in my life. I don’t need it.”

Kid Cudi is also bothered by the idea that people credit his success to Kanye West instead of his original team of producers: Patrick “Plain Pat” Reynolds, Oladipo Omishore (aka Dot Da Genius), and Emile Haynie. He explained,

“I just want to clear that up for anybody that feels like Kanye made my career or made me who I am. He brought me on to do 808s. I thought that was really f*cking awesome. I wanted to be a part of a family and saw G.O.O.D. Music as that opportunity. So I finally said yeah. Kanye West did not come and pluck me out of Applebee’s or the Bape store.”

From the looks of it, Kid Cudi has no plans to make peace with Kanye anytime soon.  He explained,

“With all due respect, I’m not Drake, who’s about to take a picture with him next week and be friends again, and their beef is squashed. That’s not me. What I say, I mean. I will be done with you. It’s gonna take a motherf*cking miracle for me and that man to be friends again. I don’t see it happening. He gon’ have to become a monk.”
