Tamar Braxton’s Ex-Husband Vincent Herbert Accused Of Evading $81k Lawsuit After Allegedly Paying Jeweler w/ Fraudulent Check
An L.A. jeweler claims he was scammed by a famous celeb.
According to a report from Radar Online, music exec Vincent Herbert is facing a lawsuit after allegedly purchasing jewelry pieces on credit and writing a bad check before skipping out altogether.
Vincent Herbert, formerly married to songstress Tamar Braxton, is reportedly being sued by jewelers Greene & Co International and Michael Greene. The company claims they were deceived and had their contract breached by the music exec, who failed to pay a balance on 7 custom jewelry pieces. Court documents reportedly reveal Vincent Herbert initially borrowed around $66k, and was allowed to take home the pieces on good faith credit. Greene claims Herbert’s insistent boasting about his wealthy lifestyle convinced him the deal was good.
Subsequently, Herbert allegedly wrote a $20k check after being pressed to pay the money back, which ultimately bounced. The legal doc reportedly reads:
“Immediately, via text messages with the [Herbert], [Greene & Co.] informed the [Herbert] that the check was returned for insufficient funds and inquired when the $20,000.00 and the remaining balance of the invoice would be paid in full,”
Greene says Herbert then ran for the hills. Reportedly, the celeb has since avoided attempts to get the debt settled. The jewelry owner officially filed suit to take care of the matter back in March 2021, but says Herbert has failed to respond. As a result, Greene is asking the court to award his company a default judgment, with the debt now having accumulated to $81,356.60.
A court hearing has reportedly been set for May on the case. It seems Herbert’s financial ruin began escalating greatly following his very public divorce. If you recall Tamar Braxton submitted documents to divorce her husband of 9 years back in October 2017.
Reportedly, Herbert has been in and out of court over unpaid bills since. The music professional was reportedly evicted, sued by Sony Music for millions, and had his luxury car repossessed. Neither Braxton nor Herbert has commented publicly about the suit at this time.
