Kenya Barris Wants Lawsuit Dismissed As He Denies Claims He Damaged Sister’s Reputation w/ ‘No-Talent Hack’ Comment
Kenya Barris claims he is not responsible for his sister’s allegedly squandered reputation.
The television producer behind shows like Grown-ish and Black-ish has demanded Colette Barris‘ lawsuit against him for allegedly damaging her professional reputation be dismissed and he’s refuted all claims of wrongdoing, RadarOnline reported. He requested that the entire case be dismissed and that his legal expenses be paid.
Colette Barris filed a civil case against her brother in Los Angeles Superior Court last year, alleging that he had broken their agreement not to disparage one another to outsiders. The siblings reached the agreement in 2020, after Kenya Barris filed for a restraining order against Colette Barris, accusing her of riding his coattails in Hollywood and urging her to stay away. The restraining was lifted months later.

However, Colette said her brother violated the agreement by referring to her as a “70-year-old, no talent, hack.”
According to the lawsuit,
“Kenya’s breach of contract denied Colette the benefit of their bargain and was a substantial factor and causing her harm.”
He said he was exempt from carrying out any of their agreement’s requirements and any supposed harm his sister did to her was her own.
Kenya Barris added the claims are invalid because the “alleged statements were not of or concerning [Colette].”
