Lamar Odom Files $1M Lawsuit Against Former Manager For Allegedly Forging His Signature To Steal His Home

Lamar Odom has filed a lawsuit against his former manager for allegedly forging his signature in order to steal his Brooklyn home that has been in his family for almost 30 years.

The 43-year-old athlete-turned-reality TV star states in legal docs that he terminated Tonita Bybee as his manager in May of 2022. Lamar Odom claims that Bybee forged his signature and sold off the home, which had been in his family “for nearly three decades” in what he described as a “fraudulent transfer.”

The alleged actions are now affecting members of Odom’s family. According to the lawsuit, Odom’s aunt Carol Janean Mercer had been living in the Brooklyn home following the death of her husband Michael Mercer in August of 2022. Now, the aunt is facing eviction due to Tonita Bybee’s actions.

In legal documents, Lamar Odom claims Bybee,

“acted with malice, wanton dishonesty and a high degree of immoral turpitude.”

The former NBA star also accuses Bybee of  “identity theft,” “embezzlement,” “conversion,” “misappropriation,” and “various other iterations of fraud.”

Odom claims his former manager illegally used his name, social security number, email address, and social media accounts. He says Bybee used his personal information in order to “defraud people and businesses by accepting speaking and appearance engagements” after she was fired.

In the lawsuit, Odom claims that Bybee still owes him money from various gigs including an NFT deal, and appearances on reality TV shows like Celebrity Big Brother and College Hill: Celebrity Edition.

In addition, Odom alleges the public notary “improperly notarized” the deed to the home. The lawsuit claims the notary “attested” to Odom’s,

“presence and signature, despite the fact that [he] never appeared before [the public notary] either in person or remotely to execute the forged deed.”

Lamar Odom is suing his former manager for $1 Million.
