Ice Cube Calls Out ‘Gatekeepers’ Trying To Prevent His Big3 Basketball League From Succeeding
Ice Cube is calling out all “gatekeepers!”
According to Black Enterprise, the rapper-actor-businessman is not here for the individuals who appear to be ignoring his Big3 basketball league ever since he announced his “Contract With Black America” prior to the 2020 presidential election. The contract urged the NFL to increase business with Black companies in consumer services, technology, and other commercial areas, is the reason his basketball career has taken off.
Ice Cube (real name O’Shea Jackson Sr.) co-founded the Big3 with entertainment executive Jeff Kwatinetz in 2017 as a 3-on-3 basketball league featuring former NBA players. In a four-minute video message shared on Twitter on Sunday (June 25), he criticized the NBA and Hollywood “gatekeepers” who appear to be trying to backlist his organization because he isn’t a member of the exclusive Hollywood “club.”

The Friday actor said,
“SOME OF YOU MAY NOT HAVE REALIZED THAT I’M NOT PART OF THE CLUB. AND A LOT OF YOU LISTENING TO ME RIGHT HERE AND RIGHT NOW, YOU ARE NOT PART OF THE CLUB EITHER.”
He continued,
“And what I realized with the club is, what makes them so mad is when you don’t want to be a part of they (expletive) club. That pisses them off. What club am I talking about? I’m talking about the club of gatekeepers that we all got to deal with. You know who they are and they definitely know who they are.”
Ice Cube is now embarking on a “fu*k the gatekeepers” podcast tour to spread the word to the general public that the NBA is unable to cooperate with the Big3 for an unspecified reason.
The Big3, now in its sixth season, consists of 12 teams with players that have previously contributed to the NBA or are younger players trying to make it to the major leagues.
