Mike Tyson Announces He’s Ending His ‘Hotboxin’ Podcast: ‘This Is My Next Chapter In Life’

Mike Tyson, a boxing legend, is saying farewell to his beloved podcast as he prepares to strap on the gloves in a highly anticipated boxing match.

The former heavyweight champion announced his retirement from “Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson” after five years.

Speaking on the final episode uploaded recently, Mike Tyson said, in part, 

“Ladies and gentlemen, these are my final recordings of Hotboxin…This is my next chapter in life.”

He told listeners that he would share more about his “next venture” online.

Since 2019, the podcast has welcomed celebrities and sports athletes like Ice Cube, Terry Crews, Tony Hawk, and his upcoming opponent, Youtuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

Dubbed “The Baddest Man on the Planet,” 57-year-old Mike Tyson will fight 27-year-old Jake Paul on July 20. The match will be streamed on Netflix from the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.

Meanwhile, Tyson has been sharing videos of himself preparing and training for the event. He has several clips of him sparring and showing off his speed and intensity in the ring on his Instagram.

The two-time world champion is 50-6 with 44 knockouts and has fought former champions such as Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis, and Michael Spinks. However, he has not professionally fought anyone since he retired in 2005.

As for Tyson’s last exhibition fight, he faced Roy Jones Jr. at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California in Nov. 2020. The pair fought each other to a draw in an eight-round exhibition.

In the 1980s, Tyson was one of the most fearsome heavyweight boxers in history. Known as “Iron Mike”, he became the undisputed heavyweight champion at just 20 years old and won his first 37 fights before a stunning knockout at the hands of Buster Douglas in 1990. In 2011, he was inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame.
