Selena Gomez Says ‘Girls Are Mean’ As She Explains Why She Prefers To Keep Her Inner Circle Small
Selena Gomez has a few people she considers a true friend and she’s okay with that!
During a recently published profile piece with Time, the Wizards of Waverly Place star dished about her small friend group. Over the years Selena Gomez has had strong ties with several celebs such as Demi Lovato, Francia Raisa, and Taylor Swift. However, as of late, it seems the 31-year-old has decided to keep her friendships out of the public eye and build more bonds with people who don’t care that she’s famous.
Speaking on what she doesn’t want in a friend, Selena Gomez shared,
“It’s a cliché, but girls are mean. It’s a very weird competition, being in the cool girls’ area — and then I’m just kind of like, there. I don’t know where I’m meant to belong.”
She continued, revealing that her closest friends work out of the spotlight as a casting director, a producer, and a real estate agent. She added,
“I love having levelheaded people around that couldn’t give two f*cks about what I do.”
Someone else in her inner circle is record producer Benny Blanco. The pair went public with their relationship in December 2023. During the same interview, Selena Gomez said she planned on tackling the journey of parenthood alone and was set to adopt a baby at 35. However, her boyfriend has changed that game plan. She said,
“I was alone for five years and I got really used to it. A lot of people are afraid of being alone and I probably tortured myself in my head for like two years being alone, and then I kind of accepted it.”
She added,
“It just happens when you least expect it.”
