Speaking with co-star Mark Wahlberg, Halle Berry detailed her journey in learning various combat skills for her roles:
“I’ve learned jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai, kickboxing, Taekwondo… I learned how to shoot. I learned capoeira for Catwoman.”
The 57-year-old actress also shared a list of the injuries she’s sustained while performing these high-risk roles:
“I’ve been knocked out three times… Got an arm broken. Broke ribs twice. Two ribs one time, three ribs another time. Broke a tailbone. Broke two toes and a finger.”
Berry then pointed to her middle finger and laughed as she added,
“This finger.”

In discussing some of her more intense on-screen experiences, Berry described her longest underwater hold for the film Dark Tide:
“I played a free diver. I had to hold my breath for almost two and a half minutes… and that felt like an eternity. It felt like death.”
She also reflected on her time on wires while playing Storm in the X-Men series, noting,
“My Storm X-Men days, long time ‘cause Storm was always in the sky on a wire. A long time.”
All the training and injuries may have been worth it, as moviegoers now have iconic roles to remember, such as Catwoman.
