New York City Rolls Out Congestion Pricing, Drivers Face $9 Toll
Starting today, January 6, drivers entering Manhattan’s busiest areas will face a toll as New York City rolls out its first-ever congestion pricing system.
The $9 toll during peak hours is designed to reduce traffic, raise $15 billion for transit upgrades, and improve air quality. This initiative comes after NYC was named the world’s most traffic-congested city in 2023.
