NBA Pro Luka Doncic Donates $500K To LA Wildfire Relief Efforts Ahead Of Lakers Debut
Luka Doncic, who recently joined the Los Angeles Lakers, is already making a difference in the community. In response to the devastating wildfires that killed 29 people and destroyed nearly 20,000 structures, Doncic is donating $500,000 to aid relief efforts. The five-time All-Star shared the news on Monday through his foundation’s social media accounts.
“It’s been so sad to see and learn more about the damage from the wildfires since I landed in LA. I can’t believe it, and I feel for all the kids who lost their homes, schools, and the places where they used to play with their friends,” he wrote in a heartfelt message.
“My foundation is donating $500,000 to immediate recovery efforts,” Doncic continued. “I am also committed to helping rebuild courts, playgrounds, and fields that were destroyed because every kid needs a safe place to play.”
He ended the note with, “To everyone affected by these fires: we’re here to help, now and for the long haul.”
Doncic is expected to make his Lakers debut tonight (Monday, Feb. 10) against the Utah Jazz at the Lakers home arena.
Continued prayers to everyone still dealing with the devastating effects of the wildfires.
