Devon Franklin Reflects On Emotional Journey Before Engagement To Celebrity Trainer Maria Castillo: ‘I Was Wounded’

Devon Franklin is opening up about his healing process before finding love again.

The Hollywood producer shared a touching message on Instagram Sunday night (February 16), and detailed how he proposed to celebrity trainer Maria Castillo.

Devon Franklin, who was married to Meagan Good for nearly 10 years before they split in 2022, also shared how he emotionally recovered before popping the question.

He wrote,

“It took me a lot of work on my heart to get to this moment.

Over the last few years, I had to sit in isolation and give myself the time to process the why, when, what and how of my life.

I had to get a place of deep understanding of the role I played in my own suffering.

I had to come to grips with my own truth: I was wounded, I was hurt, I was not okay.

I had to allow myself to feel everything: the pain, the hurt, the disappointment, the confusion.

I had to give myself the space and the grace to heal.

I had to be ok with crying.”

He added,

I had to learn to keep my heart open by loving myself enough to release the previous demands of perfection that I put on myself

I had to learn to not look for love but to become more loving

Love is our divine design. I learned we must not close our heart, no matter the pain.

When all seems lost, I can tell you those are the moments when God’s love is found.

And meeting Maria was act of God’s love for me. He knew the love I needed and the love she needed and did what only He could do to bring us together.
